HowTo - Fix Windows Update error 80070002

As a new comer on Vista, it is really a big jump from WinXP. However, if you don’t familiar with it, your learn curve on its successor – Windows 7 – may be more hard.

As a windows user, I believe many of you need update your OS by yourself. But the buggy OS keeping me cracy on show windows update error 80070002. Following are the solution from Microsoft, it works for me, hope you too.

1. Stop “Windows Update” service
2. Delete all files in %WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore*
3. Delete all files in %WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download*
4. Start “Windows Update” service

* Delete files need administrator right, it may prompt you a dialog asking password, just type it to continue.
